Portra 160

Oh boy, Portra. Let me be transparent, Portra is a great, reliable film brand as a whole. The end product hold really well and give easy clean results. However, I find that Portra is the easiest to shoot with, but I prefer navigating a challenge, rather than having silver platers.

160 has a crispy light register, and even clearer results. Practically no grain, which arguably feels characteristic to the nature of film. Color balances really well and translates as true to nature as it can.

I don’t really have anything against Portra, I just find the hype a bit much. I’ve captured much more impactful shots on “lesser” films and have been taken away at the effort put in to create those results.

It’s worthy to shoot with, but is a fairly expensive stock that may set you back a few big ones if it’s the only stock you shoot with.

As always these are opinions based upon practicality and passion
